Keep Background Vocals

Preserve background vocals in your karaoke tracks

Youka uses advanced AI models to separate vocals and instrumentals from songs. By default, the separation is optimized for instrumental quality, which excludes choirs (background vocals).

If you'd like to preserve the choirs, follow these steps:

Steps to Keep Background Vocals

  1. Open your karaoke project

  2. Navigate to Settings > Split Model

  3. Select a model that preserves background vocals:

    • 2-Stem (Vocals + Instrumental): Keeps all vocals together
    • 5-Stem with Backing Vocals: Separates lead and backing vocals
  4. Choose to keep the Backing Vocals track

  5. Re-process the karaoke

Mixing Options

After processing with backing vocals:

  1. Go to Audio > Mix Settings
  2. Adjust the backing vocals volume
  3. Balance with the instrumental track

Tips

  • Backing vocals add richness to the karaoke experience
  • Lower the backing vocal volume slightly for practice sessions
  • Use full backing vocals for performances

Following these steps ensures that choirs or background vocals are retained in your karaoke tracks.
