Keep Background Vocals

Preserve background vocals in your karaoke tracks

Youka uses advanced AI models to separate vocals and instrumentals from songs. Some models can preserve background vocals (choirs) separately from lead vocals.

Creating Karaoke with Background Vocals

When creating a new karaoke:

  1. Click Create Karaoke
  2. In the advanced options, select a split model that supports backing vocals:
    • MusicAI (With Backing Vocals)
    • MDX-Net (With Backing Vocals)
  3. Complete the creation process

Adding Background Vocals to Existing Projects

If you've already created a karaoke and want to add background vocals:

  1. Open your karaoke project
  2. Go to the Audio menu
  3. Under Create, select a model that supports backing vocals
  4. Wait for processing to complete
  5. The new audio stems will appear in the Audio menu

Playing with Background Vocals

Once you have backing vocals separated:

  1. Use the volume controls in the player
  2. Adjust the balance between:
    • Lead vocals
    • Backing vocals
    • Instrumental

Tips

  • Backing vocals add richness to the karaoke experience
  • Lower the backing vocal volume slightly for practice sessions
  • Use full backing vocals for performances
  • Not all songs have distinguishable backing vocals
