Youka Extension

The Youka Extension brings powerful desktop features to your browser, letting you create karaoke from video URLs, search lyrics automatically, and export videos locally without using credits.

What You Get #

With the Youka Extension installed, you unlock three major features:

• Create from Video URLs — Download and create karaoke directly from video links
• Search Lyrics Online — Automatically find and import lyrics from the internet
• Free Unlimited Exports — Render videos locally on your computer without using cloud credits

Installation #

Download the Extension #

1. Visit the extension download page
2. Click the download button for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux)
3. Run the installer and follow the setup instructions
4. The extension runs in your system tray (you'll see a small icon)

Connect to Your Browser #

Once installed, the extension automatically connects when you visit Youka Online:

1. Open online.youka.io in your browser
2. Look for the extension indicator in the top-right corner (it should show "Connected")
3. You're ready to use all extension features!

Creating Karaoke from Video URLs #

Instead of uploading files, you can now create karaoke directly from video links:

1. Click Create Karaoke from the home page
2. Select the From URL tab
3. Paste a video URL from your preferred streaming platform
4. Click Download
5. The extension downloads the video and extracts the audio
6. Continue with lyrics as normal

Note: Make sure the extension is running and connected before using this feature.

Searching Lyrics Automatically #

When adding lyrics to your karaoke, the extension can search the internet for you:

1. In the lyrics input area, you'll see a Search button (only visible when extension is connected)
2. Click Search to automatically find lyrics based on your song title
3. If lyrics are found, they'll be imported into the text area
4. Edit or adjust as needed

This saves you from manually searching for and copying lyrics from other sites.

Free Local Exports #

Export your karaoke videos without using cloud credits:

1. Open your project in the Studio editor
2. Click Export to open the export dialog
3. You'll see two export options:
   • Cloud Export — Uses credits, renders in the cloud
   • Local Export — Free, renders on your computer (requires extension)
4. Select Local Export
5. Choose your export settings (resolution, quality, transparency)
6. Click Start Export
7. The extension renders the video locally and saves it to your computer

Benefits of local export:

• Completely free — no credits required
• Unlimited exports
• Your files stay on your computer
• Full control over output location

Troubleshooting #

Extension Not Connecting #

If the extension doesn't connect automatically:

1. Make sure the extension is running (check your system tray)
2. Restart the extension app
3. Refresh your browser page
4. Check that you're using a supported browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)

Download Failed #

If video download fails:

1. Verify the URL is a valid video link
2. Make sure the video is publicly available (not private/age-restricted)
3. Try a different video to test
4. Update the extension to the latest version

Export Taking Too Long #

Local exports render on your computer, so speed depends on:

• Your CPU/GPU performance
• Video length and resolution
• Export quality settings

For faster exports, try reducing the resolution or quality settings.

System Requirements #

• Operating System: Windows 10+, macOS 10.15+, or Linux (Ubuntu 20.04+)
• Memory: 4GB RAM minimum, 8GB+ recommended
• Storage: 500MB for the extension, plus space for video files
• Internet: Required for downloading videos and searching lyrics

Privacy & Security #

The Youka Extension:

• Runs locally on your computer
• Only connects to Youka Online when you're using the web app
• Doesn't collect or send personal data
• Downloads are processed on your machine
• Exports stay on your computer (never uploaded)

Updates #

The extension automatically checks for updates when it starts. To manually update:

1. Download the latest version from the extension download page
2. Run the new installer (it will update your existing installation)
3. Restart the extension
